Isaiah 8:20 NLT

Isaiah 8:20 NLT "Look to God's instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark". The prophet Isaiah tells Juda to look to God's instructions and teaching. The Lord's instruction and education will lead us out of the darkness. Those who contradict the word and order of the Lord are in the dark. They will not be able to find their way out because they do not have a light to guide them, but those who follow the word of the Lord will find their way out because they have been given a light that guides them through life. "Darkness" is a metaphor for lack of knowledge and understanding. The people who are in the dark can't see anything at all. They can't see what they're doing or where they're going and don't know what to do when they get there. This darkness is contrasted with the light that comes from God's instructions and teaching, which is full of understanding and knowledge: "those who follow it have light." Darkness is a place that humans fear from childhood to old age. It is where one feels fear and loneliness, not only because it is dark but also because it is unknown. There are many stories about what might lurk in the dark, waiting for its prey to fall into its clutches. Whether real or imaginary. God's word is the light that guides us to the right path (Psalms 119:105). God gives us the wisdom (Proverbs 2:6, James 1:5) to know what should and should not be done. The Bible is a book that provides spiritual guidance, not just food for the mind. It teaches us how to live correctly while helping us deal with complex and challenging situations. God's law is perfect (Psalm 19:7) and can help keep you out of trouble. We must obey God's law. Deuteronomy 27:10 says, "You shall obey the Lord your God, and do His commandments and statutes which I command you today."
