In 1996, what has become Hope Commission International was conceived in the heart and mind of its visionary founder Dr. Komi Aholou.  At the heart of Hope Commission are four principles:

  1. Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  2. Reconciliation of human beings to God the Heavenly Father and Creator.

  3. Reconciling peoples of every nation to one another in and through the love of God, because it is the right thing to do, and because Jesus said, “By this all men shall know that you are my disciples, that you love one another.”

  4. Adhering to and modeling the highest level of Integrity.

  5. Becoming an agent of hope to the nations by engaging in discipleship, community development, and training programs.

The founding director

Dr. Komi Aholou is the Founder, CEO and International Director of Hope Commission International.  Komi was born in the village of Ahepe in the small West African nation of Togo. He is the eldest of thirteen children.  His family religion was Animism (a traditional African religion centered on ancestor worship and which incorporates elements of Voodoo). At age 12 Komi heard and believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Today Komi is respected as a seasoned, well-traveled and effective missiologist and Christian leader.  He delights in training and equipping church and community leaders in various countries. And, of course, he loves giving others the opportunity to participate in creative evangelism and discipleship through Hope Commission International which he founded in 2005 after 16 years of missionary service under YWAM.

Komi earned a Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Leadership, Masters of Science in Organizational leadership and Management, and a Doctorate of Ministry degree.

Komi is married to Tiffiany Aholou, PhD who plays an important role in HCI, participating as time permits as a volunteer team member, and, of course as an adviser and consultant to Komi.
